Salut Shawn!Cette fois j’ai une question. Je fais 1m90 (6,23 ft), je devrais donc jouer avec des shafts allongés. Cependant je joue avec des clubs de taille normale, ils sont donc trop courts. Est-ce grave? Is it harder to take divots correctly with too short clubs?Thank you again for what you do, and by the way Edouard Montaz is great too!
Merci Nanbyo;Ceci depend de la longueur de tes bras; the best is to go and get fit; at your height it is most probable that you need longer clubs or more upright clubs but if your arms are as long as Ernie Els, you may not need it; so find a good club that can help you get fit; make sure that you are setting up like in the “Golf Pro lesson distance to ball part 2″ Shawn
Okay thank you very much, I’ll remember this video next time I’ll practice, but not now cause it’s too cold right now, I can’t feel my hands! Otherwise I’ll try to get fit when I can
I use the Titleist 695 Muscle Backs…The key to this video and this approach is to find the club hat is the most compatible with one’s swing idiosyncrasies; thanks for the comment!Shawn
I should have done this a LONG time ago!!! When I played S-flex, the ball seemed to fall out of the sky (top spin?). Since going to R flex, the ball doesn’t fall out of the sky with the R flex like it did with S flex. I’ve added between 20-40y to my drives. I was sometimes erratic with the S flex, but I seem to be more consistent with the R flex. I think I just get more feedback with the R flex. Today, instead of hitting 7 or 8 irons into holes, I’m now using 9, PW or GW.
I think nearly everyone viewing this video should be hitting R flex shafts. I think people should put their ego aside and do what I did. I am having so much fun at this game now!
Right on! Great discovery and thanks for the comments! I concur with you on the majority and many companies like Ping have started to go this route; Shawn
Shawn, I wish you would spend more time discussing shaft flex. There’s no doubt that most people are playing too stiff a shaft. That’s a fact in the golf world. I was told for years that I should play stiff–because I’m 6’3 and weigh 240lbs. Sadly, a lot of people in golf stores looked at me and already made their decision. If they spent more time looking at my swing, they’d realize I don’t have the athletic ability to play S flex. Recently I started making the shift to R flex shafts.
TheMadDog……take a few lessons from a Club Pro first. Get your swing down correctly BEFORE you go out and spend a bunch of money on new clubs. Even with the best clubs in the world, and the ones that fit you the best, you still need to have that swing down pat, or you’ll still be a 18 handicap with new expensive clubs. Hope this helps.
So if someone has money to burn but they have a high handicap (18) or so, would you still suggest they buy some blades? i thought you had to be a golf god to use those. BTW shawn, you instruction vidoes are awesome, keep up the good work.
