In general is hosiery/pantyhose classed as unisex or is it an item of women’s clothing?
The main purpose of hosiery/pantyhose as society sees is for fashion worn by women, but what about other purposes such as warmth, comfort, support and other health reasons where tights/stockings can be worn under trousers?
At certain stores and on certain websites it doesn’t come under lingerie or women’s clothes.
Sad to say that the current state of society belief, it is currently marketed as women’s. You have also rightly pointed out that on websites, hosiery has a category on its own.
Hosiery is just a piece of legwear and anyone who has legs can wear hosiery. More men have taken to wearing pantyhose in place of long johns for warmth. Men (including myself) have also started wearing support pantyhose for better circulation in legs, esp. if sitting or standing for long hours.
Society needs to open up more to recognising that hosiery should be unisex.

Pantyhose and hosiery in general are a category of clothing on it’s own.
Society in general considers pantyhose a garment for women only unfortunately. But some manufacturers make pantyhose for men, although they are in most cases not recommendable and not even worth a try.
And there seems to be a change. Lots of men wear pantyhose these days and in increasing numbers. There are many reasons to wear them and I find a good reason to wear them is that they make my legs feel good, they are comfortable and I just like wearing pantyhose. To me pantyhose are a totally unisex item of clothing and I see no reasons why a man shouldn’t wear them.
There are websites that sell pantyhose made just for men. I guess they take the package into consideration and add more room for comfort. I don’t see any problem with wearing them, but there will always be those that will see it as a problem in today’s society. I say have at it, it’s worth the benefits!
